Assisi
The city where poverty became joy.
The Basilica of Saint Francis, the Portiuncula and San Damiano in a town of pink stone that invites silence. Assisi is explored on foot and at a calm pace, with space for prayer and reading Franciscan texts. The town lends itself to one- or two-day programmes, on their own or as an extension from Rome. It is especially suited to times of community life and reflection.
Suggested length
2 to 3 days, or extension from Rome
Best season
De marzo a junio y de septiembre a octubre; agosto es más caluroso y concurrido.
Group profile
Parroquias, movimientos franciscanos, jóvenes y grupos de retiro.
The destination, in detail
Assisi is best walked slowly. The program combines the great Franciscan basilicas with the places of origin: San Damiano, the Porziuncola, and the Eremo delle Carceri, where the city recedes and the forest appears. We coordinate group masses, trusted local guides, and accommodations within the old town or in the valley, depending on the group's profile. It works very well as a unique three-day destination or as an extension from Rome.
